Strange text

Hello,
I have some mtext in my drawing that's showing up differently even though they are the same text style. I've tried matching properties but the problem's still there. I thought it was a visual (screen) problem until I had it printed. I'm using ACAD 2007 (both full & LT). Please help. Sample attached.

I have seen this before. It is usually the result of pasting text into the Editor. I have cleared this in the past by positioning the cursor mid-sentence and hitting Return and then BackSpace, but this does not seem to work with your text.

Have you any more information as to how this was created?

They do until you zoom out a bit. Then the lower one looks decidedly fatter than the top one.

Carl,
The strange looking one was copied from another drawing, and the normal one was created in my drawing. It seems the only way to fix it is to re-type all the strange ones or accept the inconsistency.

I just tried a trick we had to use when True Type fonts first came about a few releases back when they looked strange in different UCSs, and that is to set the width factor to just under 1. Well, it works with this problem, so I don't have to re-type everything, phew!

How far "just under 1"? are we talking like 0.99999?

I've had something similar happen to me when a text entity had an elevation other than zero. You may want to check that too.

Whoa, good call. It looks like that fixed it when I tested. I wouldn'ta thunk'd it.
