    Question Exporting/Saving As

Currently designing with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010. Cities and clients are needing drawing files in earlier versions.
When I go to Export the file, I am not given the option to Export to a previous version of AutoCad. The only options I have are DWF, DWFx, 3D DWF, PDF, DGN and OTHER FORMATS. The other formats options gives me the option to save the file as a Block dwg but in doing this I am unable to open that in a previous version of AutoCad since it was saved in the 2010 version.
I have also tried to do a SAVE AS and change to file type to AutoCAD 2007. This will save the file but any Civil 3D objects (parcels, pipenetworks, alignemnts, ect) do not show up when I open the drawing in the earlier versions of AutoCad.

Is there anyway to get the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 drawings to earlier versions of AutoCAD?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

In C3D 2010, you should be able to click on the big red C in the upper-left, then select Export -> AutoCAD DWG -> select format.

I've never seen this option disappear, so I have no idea why you wouldn't have it available to you.

Sounds like you are running the ._Export command...?

On the Application Menu, choose Export > AutoCAD DWG > Export to AutoCAD 200x

    export4.png

Also available at the command line...
    ._ExportToAutoCAD2010
    ._ExportToAutoCAD2007
    ._ExportToAutoCAD2004
    ._ExportToAutoCAD2000

Thanks for the help. I am having to use the command line command. I have no idea why it is not in the Export list when I click the big red C. We have multiple computers here and none of them have it under the big red C.

Also running into the problem now that some of the files will not convert (no idea why). I am opening the drawing, typing in "exporttoautocad2007", and saving it in the location I desire. After it does everything I get no errors but when I go to the location I saved the converted drawing it is not there. Any help??

Do you get the same result if you export to Acad2004?
What about if you export to Acad2010 first and then take that one and go back to 2007?

I am getting the same result no matter which version I try to take it down to.

I would not mind sending the original AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 files but I do not want to have all of our styles going out to the world. Spent a lot of time and money creating them.

Well, does the ._AecObjExplode command run OK. Maybe you could run this first, and then do a ._SaveAs...?

Yes, that is what I had to do. Explode everything to get the Civil 3D object out of there and then saved as a 2007 file. It wasn't hard, just does not make sense to me. Thanks for the help.

I see what you are describing when I start up "Civil 3D as Autocad 2010". But that's the only way.

When I start up Civil 3D as Civil 3D, I get a Big Red C menu that looks like the attached image. That's what you should be seeing.

Are all your Civil 3D commands working? If so, then you may have gotten your User Profile mangled somehow... Did someone at your company create a custom ARG file that then got loaded into everyone's computer? If so, the problem may lie in how that was done...

All C3D commands are working. Not sure about the ARG file. Will have to check with the IT department regarding this. Thanks.
