    Can't find the tutorial I was looking for right away. To get the material properties, go to www.matweb.com.

    One way to do this is by opening your part template (ie C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2008\Templates\standard.ipt) Then under Format - Style and Standards Editor select materials. Select Default and then click the New... button on the right hand panel. Give it a name, fill out the information and next time you use this template it will be available for use.

    We make brake shoes, so I have lots of custom materials for our friction materials. I add these to the template as stated before. I also have several templates, one for the friction materials, another for steel parts, etc. That way I don't have to wade through the whole list to select the material I want.
