Default FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violaton when launching ADT 2006

    Software: Autocad Architectural Desktop 2006
    OS: Win XP SP2

When attempting to launch Autocad Architectural Desktop 2006, we get "AutoCAD Error Aborting: FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception 6532b0h."

Issue is affecting multiple computers and started because of botched removals of Revit 8.1 and Revit 9.0. Uninstall of Autocad Architectural Desktop 2006, reboot of Windows and reinstall of Autocad Architectural Desktop 2006 does not fix the issue. The program launches fine for the domain administrator but not for any local administrator accounts or domain user accounts. So it appears to be a permissions issue but I don't know which of the thousands of Autodesk registry key(s) and file(s) are lacking appropriate permissions.

    Any ideas?

When you uninstalled ADT, did you do a "clean" uninstallation:

There may be similar instructions for cleanly uninstalling Revit - I could not find any quickly on the Revit support site, but you may have more motivation (and luck) than I have:

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

Actually I just tried a system restore of Windows to a date before those botched Revit uninstall (the system restore function available via Window's msconfig utility). I folllowed that up with a reinstall of Autocad Architectural Desktop 2006 and I'm in business again. And users are happy!

Glad I didn't need to do the manual uninstall but I'll hold onto that information.
