I've been running some tests today on Civil3D 08 and AutoCAD 06. I'm not thrilled with the results and I'm hoping that someone may have some advise for me.

I timed printing the same drawing several different ways. I realize that the results below are not that scientific but it does show that DWFs are significantly slower to plot.

Using the Plot Command (Background Printing Disabled)
Directly to HP Plotter: 25 seconds
To PDF: 35 seconds
To DWF: 1 minute 15 seconds

Using Sheet Set Manager
(right Click Publish to Alternate Named Page Setups) (Background Printing Disabled)
Directly to HP Plotter: 45 seconds
To PDF: 50 Seconds
To DWF: 1 minute 45 seconds

Using Sheet Set Manager
(right Click Publish to Alternate Named Page Setups) (Background Printing Enabled)
Directly to HP Plotter: 1 minute 25 seconds
To PDF: 1 minute 15 Seconds
To DWF: 2 minutes 45 seconds

I have also been doing some quality tests. Overall, I have pretty good luck with printing from DWFs. I have noticed that if I compare drawings that were printed directly to the plotter with prints from a DWF file, the direct to plotter prints are better. The DWF print is washed out...muted. The bold lines are not as bold and the thin lines are not as thin.

Does anyone know of a way to tweak Design Review to print better?
Does anyone know of a way to speed up printing to a dwf file?

Thanks
Jas
