    Default unknown error on STC

    hi all

ok.. this just happened for the first time ever today. were well into a project and and working. then decided to open an older project for reference. we opened the old project into the same instance of revit and got an error when we opened the file

"an unknown error has occoured" and it would not open the file

NOW.. the project im working on is getting an error when i try to STC.. its the same error and were loosing work.. all the people working on the project can save their local files.. but not to central

    here is the screen shot
please let me know if you have ever run into this and if so... how to stop it.. its happened 2 times in the same day now.. we lost work and just resaved one of the local files as the central.. but we cant keep doing that.

    thanks alot for your help

Okay, yes we've seen this one. You may need to archive and then replace your central file in the same location with the same name (just avoid saving over the same file, you could open the Central itself, but don't save over it in place). Once clean, and replaced, then try to save to central again. I'm just speculating based on prior experience, so I can only hope that this helps! It usually means your central flipped on you, became its own local. This has happened when linking a central across a WAN before into another file.
    Good luck,

thanks for anyone who took time to look at this.. it ended up being a REALLY messed up server problem. not a revit issue. the weird thing was we could still access most files on our server so we didnt think of it right away.. just some files were messing up

anyways our computer tech is fixing our server and all is good..

    thanks for your time anyways
