    Default hatch starting point?

Is there anyway to control how and where a hatch pattern start? I am thinking something like snapbasepoint in Acad.
    thanks

What are you trying to do? For drafting patterns starting point should be irrelevant. On the other hand in case of model patterns user is able to move them and even align to other geometry or impose constrains.

I have a spanish roof tile pattern, it is not a model pattern it is a drafing pattern. As you can imagen a roof tile should start at the edge of the fascia not as the image that I attached before. Thanks for Your help in advance Leonid

Please explain how to control the hatch patterns in families inserted into projects. In example, I have a precast concrete pattern defined as a stiples pattern with joiints (lines) at 3'-0" oncenter. Creating an inplace family for a capstone, using this pattern, I can align the pattern properly in the family (I want the joint on each side of ridge) Once the family is saved, the alignment disappears. Very frustrating, What am I doing incorrectly?

You are correct in pointing out that model patterns in families do not provide necessary level of control. This control is available for hosts (walls, roofs, ceilings, floors) and fill regions though.

for that you would want to use a model pattern, otherwise your tiles will change size if you change the scale of your view.

    W

I was about to post the same link our BeeGee just did...the point is, we both did a quick search for something like "Model Hatch" and found the link in about 10 seconds (in fact I searched just Tips-n-Tricks), turned around and posted the link for you...and others to be sure.

There is a wealth of data at your fingertips...a short search away. If someone has wanted to do it and didn't know how there's a good chance it's been asked and explained before

Please don't think of this as an admonishment, it's just a tip of its own. Just an observation that even though our "most excellent" dudes (and often dudettes) provided a response very quickly, the very same result could have been yours even faster. Our motto, "Your Question, Your Answer, no waiting...(unless you are using dial-up)"

    Keep Rrrrrrevting...

well adjusting the start point is by the align tool... just add reference plan , and alight the hatch pattern to..
