    Default component array

This is a problem that I have experienced several times before and wondered what the solution is. It looks to me like a glitch in the program

Pic 1 An array of beams are created from 1 original beam
Pic 2 These are the components I need to array up the beam 11 rows and along the array of beams 14 columns
Pic 3 Select the components and choose the beam for the direction of array. Nothing else in the drawing to give the direction and the preview shows exactly what I want to happen
Pic 4 Press Ok and all the components end up in a pile in the corner Happens every time

    Any ideas

It's a little hard to tell just looking at the pictures (you can definitely see what, but why is a little tougher).

This is the only thing I can think of.

Have you double checked what you're picking as the direction to create the pattern? It almost looks like the direction got picked incorrectly, and the parts are flying off into a weird direction.

I hope this helps. Sorry if I'm telling you something you already tried.

I got an answer from our VAR who said this is a known Inventor problem right from the first version but they cannot fix it because of the way the software is designed. His words not mine. The way around it if like me you find yourself with no other axis to array along except one that has already been arrayed is to add a work axis from the arrayed edge that you want the new array to run along. Then it works fine. Many thanks for your answer Johnathon. It is a tricky one to describe
