    Default Ceiling Grids

Is there any lisp routines out there that make ceiling grids easy? I can not get the create ceiling grid in 08 to work they way that I want. For example:
I want a 2x2 grid spaced evenly in a room with the grid dividing the room and not a tile. I also want the grid to maintain the 2x2 layout until it reaches the edge of the grid and then where the remaining space is divided evenly, but then have the option of having the tile centered. See example below.

I've tried as well and I don't think there is a quick way to do this.
I am now in the habit of drawing my ceiling grids manually evenly spaced between walls, and once I'm happy us the "apply to linework" tool.

You could draw a polyline around your space, then select the ceiling grid tool. In properties, specify the x and y axis, and the overall grid dimensions. Choose "select object" from the boundary drop down list. Once you select the polyline, it will ask you for the insertion point. Right click and choose "SNap to center". It will automatically center the grid on the polyline. If you need to shift it, just move the grid. It is associated with the polyline so it will clip automatically. You can also associate grids with spaces.

If you happen move it too far, you will see that the grid ends. Just go to properties and make the overall grid dimensions larger. That shouldn't happen, though. You should only need to move it half the distance of your tile to make it either center on the grid line, or the tile.
    Hope that helps.

If you need to adjust the grid location after placement due to grid lines not being in the location as desired, the osnap "mid between 2 points" works wonders.

Hold down shift and then right click and you will find it there.
