    Angry Importing Mechanical Desktop Files

I have been trying to import some of my Mechanical Desktop files into Inventor 2008. It gets to a popint where it starts loading then I get the following error message:

'Mechanical Desktop Part/Assembly translator not registered.'

When i click the OK button Inventor goes back to a blank screen.

My systems administrator tells me that everything in the Inventor 2008 suite is installed as well as all of the patches.

Does anyone have an idea what I can do (other than creating IGES, SAT or STEP files) to get my files into Inventor. This wasn't a problem in the earlier versions of Inventor.

    Thanks,
    Jim long

Default Re: Importing Mechanical Desktop Files

I haven't seen this particular error, but I know of a similar one when trying to import AutoCAD files. There's an issue with the AOEM Viewer on the DVD where it gives an 'end of evaluation period' error when importing an AutoCAD file.

I can't say for certain, but I wonder if MDT is doing the same thing just with a different error?

You can download the fix here. You do have to uninstall your old viewer, then reinstall the new one.

The only other thing that I can think of is making sure you've run MDT at least once.

    Hope this helps!
