Snap only to Points in Current View

So I have a problem/gripe with Autocad. Its been annoying me for years, and this is the first that I'm complaining about it. Is there any way to force osnap to ONLY snap to points in the current viewing area? It is too often that I try to move a text box a little bit while zoomed in close, and WHAM, off the screen, undo undo undo, because my cursor was too close to a long line, and it end snapped 500 feet right..... Microstation (which I hate) does not do this.

You're not alone. AFAIK the answer is no.
I set osnap to NONe or NEAr - when I remember.

eh, that's what I was afraid of... i'd say about 65% of the time i remember to hit F3 first....

only if there is a way to shut it off, I can think of times when I would like to be able to select points out of the current view.
