Default Auto Update of Northing/Easting when object is moved

I often work with drawings of coastal areas, the location (Northing, Easting) of a number of objects is displayed on the layout in a tabular legend. I was wondering if it was possible to somehow link the table to the object it references. What I am trying to accomplish is to have the ability to move an object in the drawing (such as a navigation aid), and have the table that gives its text location automatically update with the new coordinates. I am still using ID to get the new location and then updating the table manually.

Consider using Fields in your table. In the attached screen capture image I've created a table using the position of a Point object as the Fields' property. If you move the Point and regen, the table will update using the new coordinates of the Point. The referenced object doesn't necessarily have to be a Point, it can be a Circle, Block...

here is a link to the fields forum for more help:
    http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53

also a link to the tables forum:
    http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=199

To create a field in click a piece of text, Mtext or a table cell to edit, right click in the editor then pick insert field.

    In the following dialog box:

    Field category >>>>>> objects
    Field name>>>>>>>>object
Object type >>>>>>>>hit the pick icon on right and choose object
    property>>>>>>position
    format>>>>>>decimal
    precision>>>>>>>0.00 (or however you want)
list seperator>>>>> this indicates what is use to seperate the x, y, z, coordinates (semi-colon, comma, slash) this is if you have more than one coordinate box below it checked. if only one box is checked there is no seperator. (I suggest using seperate fields one for each coordinate).

under the "Additional Format" icon you can place a prefix (x =, y =,z =) and/or suffix (ft, m, etc.) if you wish

    Hope this helps.

If the objects that are listed in the table are blocks I would recommend using AutoCAD tables and data extraction. If they are not blocks go with the fields suggestion.

In AutoCAD 2008, they don't have to be blocks. They can be any AutoCAD object.

Thank you for your response, the fields option worked perfectly! It will save me a considerable amount of time, as I perform that function quite often.
