Default can you set all design options to automatic on the fly

I have received a set of documents for an outside consultant an there are many design options built in. the problem is someone has set most of the views to a primary or secondary and not to Automatic. is there a quick way to set everything that relies on design options to automatic.

P.S. this is a problem because when I set the master to a site adapt stage I want to get rid of the options that are not needed, but when I do many of the views say since that design option is not needed the view will also be deleted.

Thanks in advance for the feedback

Design Options can be controlled with View Templates. If you have a bunch of views that are similar, like 1/8" scale floor plans, you can get one the way you want it (design options to automatic) and apply it to all the others as a View Template. Just
    - select all the other similar views in the prj. browser
    - right click, Apply View Template...
    - under "Show" check Existing Views and uncheck All View Types
    - select the view that is correct, click OK.

You'll have to do this separately for all types, as this also changes phase filters, scale, view range, etc., but it's easier than going one by one. Design Options is a tab on the Visibility Graphics dialog, which is not available in Element Properties with multiple views selected.

Wow now that will take some time. It would be nice if this could be automated by selecting multiple views in the view browser, and modifying all of them there. Maybe a wish list item I guess. Thanks for the advice

I hate to say it, but it is probably possible by creating an API tool.

In the meantime, you might try the following (I have not tried it though, it's just an idea). Create some 3D views and set each to a different design option. In each, edit the design option, group the objects and save them out as a new Revit file (use the design option name as your filename). Note that you'll probably lose annotations pertaining to these objects in some views when you complete the other steps discussed below, so try this on a copy of the project. Once you've done this, accept the primary and all views will reflect this option (there won't be design options in the project anymore!).

Now re-create the design options, and in each one, link and bind the appropriate rvt file you saved in the previous steps. Then ungroup the objects and (in theory) you should end up having all views set as automatic since it's the default option. Let us know if you dare to try this and is succesful

Rather a bummer that Design Options are not available in a View List like Phase and Phase Filter are. Seems like an oversight, as the DO really is important info in a View List. And if it was available, it would likely be really easy to sort by DO, and change a bunch at once.

    More wishlist stuff, me thinks.
