Default Keynote object below a repeating detail

In my previous project, I used Keynote>By Material on all wall sections. The keynote was actually linked to the material in the wall, and a repeating detail component (i.e. brick) was on top of the wall. I had no issues.

In a new project, I try to Keynote the wall but it only finds the repeating component, which can't by keynoted. To make it more confusing, I have a few places where it does as before - the keynote does not find the repeating detail, only the wall material beyond. Any thoughts on what might be different?

Default Re: Keynote object below a repeating detail

Create a Detail Component that consists of a single version of what is in the repeating detail, place it at the start, and keynote that one.
