New font - how to convert to shape file?

I would like to use a new font in autocad. I think I have to somehow convert the font file (extension .ttf) to a shape file (extension .shp) and then compile it in autocad to an .shx file. Firstly, is this correct? And second, how do I create the .shp file? Autocad help mentions saving in ASCII format, but I can't find a way to do this in MS Word. Thanks to anyone who has time to explain how to do this!

Most likely, you do not have the tools needed to convert a TTF to a SHP or SHX file.

Take a look at http://www.tcfonts.com - and scroll down about half way.

Wow, was I ever overcomplicating this. I was trying to get the font into a dwg file that was open when I loaded the .ttp file. All I had to do was close it and reopen and the font was available in text styles. Thanks for your response!

Sorry, I thought you wanted to convert the TTF to SHX for a reason. I didn't realize you were OK with using the TTF in your drawings as is.
