Default Problem with saving AutoCad File

    Hi All,
I have AutoCad 2005 and I have been having trouble saving it - the error says - Runtime Error - tells where the root file is - and then says " The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the support team for assistance. - Got any ideas as to how to fix this - Thanks

Does this only happen when you save? Does it happen regardless of the drawing?
This type of error often results in a re-install, but I don't want to give that diagnosis yet until we know a bit more about what's going on....

I was afraid that might be the answer - I have saved numerous drawings and still have the same problem. My computer has experienced any problems that I am aware of but I wouldn't be shocked. It is getting older and needs some maitenance. I will do some more experimenting but if not I will probably just try to reinstall - Thanks for the info- It does it regardless of information , file or the location on the computer.

Yep, I'd just do a re-install... it might not be the most elegant solution, but it'll fix your problem in a matter of about an hour so that you can go back to work.

Hmmm... you didn't install an add-on package, etc recently? I was curious if perhaps some "foreign" data might have been added to your AutoCAD drawings that AutoCAD doesn't understand and thus creating the crash when you save. If this isn't the case, you'll likely be able to bring your custom menus, etc back in after the re-install and everything will probably be fine. If this is the case (the extra program, etc) then remove it and see if it makes the difference.
