    Default Real World Linetypes.

Summary: Linetype creations based on a "real-world" scale, not just a graphical representation.

Description: I would like to be able to create linetypes using a "real-world" scale; not just graphical repetitions. For example; paint stripes down a roadway need to be a specific physical size; not just pattern representations. Another example might be concrete or post barriers that need to be displayed in their exact locations for clearances.

How Used: Many drawing items could be drawn dynamically with "real-world" sized linetypes as stated in examples above.

    Feature Affinity: Linetype

It would be nice to be able to apply a scale or units to a single linetype. It is possible to do what you want however, it just doesn't play well with other linetypes scaled unitless. See this post for more info.

There are third party add-ons that can do this with paint lines. I don't own any but it sure would be nice.

my main use would be for linetypes with a second dimension like batting lines. As I use MSLTSCALE 1 and PSLTSCALE 1 those lines are usally messed up in different viewports.
As a convention they could eventually use negative values, eg "10" is 10 times current ltscale (as usual) while "-10" would be 10 units thick

Good luck. Linetype functionality today is virtually the same as it was 30 years ago.

Florida Dept. of Transportation's Civil 3D State Kit has always included the ability to add paint strips along with RPM's (reflective pavement markers).

Shouldn't this have been added as intelligent objects in Civil 3D by now?

For pavement striping I use an ARRAYPATH for the dashed lines. I draw in one of the dashes and then array that dash along a polyline that is on a non-plotting layer. The array, dashed line, is in real world dimensions and unaffected by drawing or viewport scales.

Wouldn't work for curved road sections or guide lines through intersections. As an intelligent object it could be modified and still maintain correct spacing.

I don't see how. They are much too busy changing the ribbon color scheme and modifying the icons, once again.

I finally get all my custom icons set to transparent background and they change the dark background color to a darker gray. Have to wait and see if my icons are still good. Not that we needed it, but the only improvement they could have added to the background dark color theme would be to allow us to set it with the rest of the colors in Options. Then I know my custom icons would always look OK.
