    Default Cyclone

Any users having any troubles with it? I was getting run time errors with visual C++? Wondering if anybody else is using software and or heard of it?

I don't see 'cross-posting' this topic getting you
    more feedback faster.
I googled for it and got nothing other than stuff
    for modeling weather.
    Who publishes this product?

This software, typically is of interest to Surveyors, and
Architectural Teams that might be doing historic building
    documentation, or in situ as-builting.
This software is best applied to modifying and weeding the
ENORMOUS point cloud of data generated by laser scanning
equipment, and is not a general purpose modeler in nature.

Typically speaking C++ or Virtual runtime errors are benign in nature.

What would be your typical as-built modeler for a busy roadway (three lanes each way) with on/off ramps and acel/decel lanes being overpassed by an inter-state highway. What would be a typical deliverable from your true natured modeler and how long would that take? Does anybody else see this? the overall accuracy/time saving ability/true world/multi purpose "AutoCAD" / "MicroStation" driven modeling software? Its truely amazing..? Is there anything close to it? NO.. An "Automated" 360 degree GPS unit that scans, inputs and takes pics for visual clarity and data incorporation.. Bla..Bla..Bla.. I only hope this takes off and i'll be sitting on one of those seats when it does...(oops.. I allready am.)

No doubt there is some benefit to this software,
only it's use is limited to 'in-place' as-built modeling
and is required due the nature of the dense point
    clouds that the equipment collects.

If your project was initially designed and modeled
accurately in any of the products you mention
and IF (big IF here) the model were fully parametric
then 'As-Builting' it would be a simple matter of
collecting the relevant control information to update
a copy of the proposed model, to adjust it to the
as-built state by modifying the parametric control data.

In the case of HISTORIC restorations, where no
plans or models exists, this software is very
valuable and definitely has it's place. Only keep in mind
that it is more for reducing the point cloud data to a
useful model, and not a 3D parametric modeler.
I short the tool is a requisite, if one is going to use
a tool like the CYRAX laser scanning equipment, and not
a 3d cad application for the creation of ones design
    or design documentation.

The density is where your information is at..you wouldnt want an as-built dwg with only a few control points, how is any one going to use that in an adjacent project? Projects that are designed and modeled accurately? Thats a big IF too. You have too many variables that go into that equation. Cad-ops with new forms of land development software, new engineers getting pushed to get projects outs the door because, 1, they took too long in pre-design, 2, developers push to get job done on time, forgoing quality control on sets of plans that have to be at the developers desk monday morning... and 3, lets not forget the construction crews. Have you been out to any ongoing job site? sit and watch any construction job and see were at the mercy of weather or not they have had their breakfast burrito this morning or not.. so, being able to get laser quality control on designed projects to verify and use is very substantial...

To the anonymous poster to my reputation on this post.
My comments regarding this software is more than an
educated guess. It is an informed opinion, from articles
on same about projects being done with it in professional
magazines like P.O.B (for surveyors) and ENR.
Most notably look for articles on the Hoover Dam bypass bridge
project as conducted by Development Engineering Inc. in
Phoenix, Arizona. Also I spent time on the manufactures web-site
reviewing the product documentation available there.

If you want more informations or links to this product
feel free to identify yourself to me, and I will happily indulge your
    request for more information.
