    Default Microsoft mouse 8000

My old mouse died. Now I have a new Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 (from Costco).

I used to be able to push the scroll wheel down and drag the mouse to pan a view. Now, I need to hold the shift key and push the right button - a two-handed operation.

How can I get my previous single-finger action back? I've tried changing several settings in control panel / "mouse properties".

    Thanks.

Microsoft probably assigned some fancy function to your wheel button.
Go into the mouse properties and assign the Wheel Button to "Middle Button"

Nice try, but that's an AutoCAD variable.
