    Default Wacom Pen Tablet Compatibility

I've been tracing with the SKETCH command with a mouse, but it's not going so good. So has anyone had any experience with ACA08 and the Wacom line of tablets?

Yes it's better to use an Wacom Pen Tablet

It's dificult to use at beginning, but with some work and training... it's the best

    Cheers

Is the Wacom tablet good for more than just sketching? I have an Intuos3 tablet on trial, and it seems awfully expensive just to use the pen.

We have several Wacom tables in use including a Cintique.

They all work great and are dependant on the user and their work style for their success. some folks are into it, some are not.

The main thing is that the user has to make sure not to mess with the mouse while they are using the pen. it seems to put it into thrash mode if they do. This is pretty logical, because windows xp is not setup for multi touch / point.

one inteface widget that has been catching on with alot of our users is the Navigator by 3dconnection. great with autocad, particuarly for 3d folks. hunt and peckers sometimes dont like it very much.... Check it particuarly for folks with Ergonimic issues.

Please note I have moved this from the ACA 2008 General forum to the CAD Management Hardware forum for a wider audience dealing with hardware.

If all you are planning to do is simple sketches then the Wacom may be more than you need. There are other far cheeper tablet out there but don't have the air brush and fancy attachments.
They take batteries but I only need to change them every 18 months.

Another thing to think about is the middle and right buttons. I found them difficult to use on a pen and fragile to continuous use, another input device is I think esential something like a gamepad (nostromo n52) or an all singing all dancing keyboard with a wheel etc.

With a pen tablet you can also say goodbye to all those aches and pains from useing a mouse and start to enjoy draghting again
