A bigger issue is that 2009 will be shipping in late April. If you're going through the trouble of upgrading, you'd be wise to wait for the newest AutoCad.

From what I've seen plain vanilla ACAD 2009 will need 1 GB RAM. Minimum. Not surprising given the requirements of operating systems these days....

I use P4 3.6 and I know that C2D much faster is than any P4 series.
My advise; I use @ home Quad core 4x3Ghz with 4Gb-ram... That is a super systeem. It is not so expensive.
Use 3gb-ram ! Autocad 2009 use more ram. The specification on the CAD site is not right.Use min 3GB-RAM+C2D 8400.
