Default How to improve family performance?

I'd like to improve performance on a fairly complex family I built for a window. I'm trying to search around for pointers but am having no luck. Can anyone offer a thread or suggestions? Loading into a project, placing it in a project and changing a simple instance checkbox all seem to take longer than they need to. I think it will drive my coworkers nuts unless they can keep it in there mind how much a little extra wait will save them in coordination efforts. One quiestion the comes to mind is... Does the number of nested levels really affect performace? If, so would I gain much by only nesting at the main family level?

Nesting, Inastance and Formulas. These are the three things that affect performance the most.

Instance takes more time, because it has to recalculate for each object. (Makes sense.) type is faster because once the value is loaded it is static.

Nesting takes time to push all the parameters into the nested objects. I don't do and multi-level nesting. One level only.

Formulas take time to calculate or recalculate. This can be somewhat mitigated by using types. Once the formula is calculated - it is preset.

    Also arrays and formulas together...
and the over use of voids.
