Arial Text Not Showing In Viewports

Hello fellow CAD junkies,
I've recently been working with AutoCAD 2008 and have found a problem with Arial text showing up in a polygon viewport. The layer is on, the text is not annotative, and the text appears when I zoom out, but quickly disappears again when I zoom in. Regenerating doesn't help either. I've changed the text to Romans.shx for now and this text shows up fine. It's really bizarre. Any thoughts? Thanks everybody.

Well Arial is a true type font (TTF) rather than a shx, do other TTF also cause the same problem to occur?

Yeah. It seems that this is the case with all true type texts. They just disappear, but are really still there. TTFs work in square viewports though.

I am having the exact same problem with text in a polygonal viewport. Did you ever find a solution?

The cruddy thing is that I just took these files over from a woman who went on 4 month maternity leave. Oh office standards where art thou?
