Transfer Color Fill Legend to other Projects?

Can Color Fill Legends be transfered from one project to the next?

We have area plans in one project with about a dozen colors assigned to various area names. These colors had to match those given to us from the client, so it took a little work to get them right. Now we are starting a new project with the same client and need to use those same colors in new area plans. I tried to copy the Color Fill Legend from the previous project and paste it into the new project, but the colors don't follow.

It seems simple enough, but I can't figure it out.

Transfer project standards works for me. Now if they are by name, that might be the problem since you don't have the same names. But they should still be there.

I transfered the project standards from the other project before I started the area plans of the new project. Once I started the area plans, the colors were not the same. But, given your suggestion I transfered them again and the colors are now correct.
