object tracking sys var?

my object tracking isn't working the way it used to. if i want to do something, for example move somthing with a base point 10 units perpindicular to the right of a midpoint, i would normally put my crosshairs on the midpoint and then move along the polar angle to the right and type 10 in the command line and hit enter. Now as soon as i type in the command line, the object/polar tracking disappears and when i hit enter, the base point used is a random one.

It works in i type 10 and then track along the angle and hit enter but this is backwards for me.

how can i get it back?
