    Question Parametric Masking Region ???

I have this Family for a Cold Formed Metal Stud Kicker. Often the kicker is not at a 45 degree angle, so I want to adjust the cut angle of the stud, this part works okay, however...I have a masking region (used to block out whatever is beyond) and I cannot get the masking region to change parametricaly the way the end of the stud does. What do I need to do?

    Thanks in advance, Tim

It looks like you haven't locked the boundary line for your masking region to the linework for the stud.

Cool Re: Parametric Masking Region ???

Thanks Dimitri. I was trying to do that, but I can't seem to get it to lock. What do I have to do to lock it?

In the family editor tab select until you have the masking region selected. Click Edit on the options bar to access the boundary line of the masking regon. Click Align from the toolbar. Select the linework for the stud kicker first, then select the line for the masking region sketch. A small padlock icon should appear. Click that so it's 'locked' and then save the sketch. Flex the family to be sure it's right and then just reload to your project.

I've attached a little AVI file illustrating the steps. Be sure to watch the status line at the bottom left side of your Revit window to be sure you have the right element selected.

Smile Re: Parametric Masking Region ???

THANK YOU, DIMITRI !!! It took an awful lot of "Tabbing" to finally pick the correct lines, but it is working now.

Thanks again, have a nice day, Tim
