Default Migrating Autocad 2007 files to 2010

I am not aware if anyone has posted anything similar but...
We still have legacy files (autocad 2007) when we open them in 2010 I've noticed that the annotation scale defaults to 1/8"=1'-0" (or 1:96) in model space. In PaperSpace the viewport scale defaults to 1:1 and the custom scale is correct (1/8"=1'-0") etc.. when the users change these settings to the correct ones they lose any blocks that are not on the correct scale and items in paperspace are not plotted they "dissapear" until we synch the viewport scale(s)
Any ideas on what else to look for or how to migrate files to 2010 would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Thank you,
I'm going to move this question from the CAD Management Forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here.

    Cheers.
