Question Hardware recommendations for Revit 2009?

Does anyone have any insight into appropriate hardware recommendations for the new 2009 versions of Revit?

A good video card will probably be required that is if you are going to be doing any rendering using the new mental ray rendering engine.

I'm not aware that the official system requirements/recommendations have been released yet. Maybe someone else knows?

The recommendations do tend to go up with every release. But, in my opinion, they're not really all that great an indication of what to buy/use anyway.

Are you looking to buy a new computer now? Post what you're thinking about getting and what your proposed budget range is.

I can completely understand this misconception, but it needs to be stated again: video cards have absolutely nothing to do with rendering performance. Rendering performance is almost entirely a function of the CPU and RAM.

Hi Irusun but doesn't mental ray use a graphics card for better rendering? I'm not too clued up what the system specs are for Max or Maya which will give you a better idea of what sort of rendering requirements are needed.

Nope. And the system specs for Max or Maya don't have anything to do with Revit any more than any other 3D software.
