    Default 2004 3D Drawings can't be opened in 2008?

I have some 2004 3D drawings created in vanilla 2004 and saved as 2004 version DWG's.

I can open them using AutoCAD 2004. But when I try to open them in AutoCAD MEP 2008 the drawing begins to open and the progress bar at the bottom of the screen reaches 93% and it hangs (not responding).

This also happens when try to use Recover to open it. It shows no errors and then hangs.

I have also tried using DWG True View with the same results.

    Any ideas?

I tried to search for other posts that might address this but was told by the Forum Serch Engine that "2004 3D Drawings opened in 2008" is too short of a term must have a minimum of 3 terms.

This may be too obvious, but sometimes we miss the obvious. I have noticed that sometimes when MEP (or AutoCAD for that matter) hangs up there is in fact a pop up window waiting for input, but it doesn't pop up on top. It is hidden behind another window some where. Usually it is the popup to ask about proxy objects or the previously saved in another version question.

Good idea but I didn't see any pop-up windows.

Here's more to confuse the situation.....

If I open it in 2004 and switch to Model Space and save it I can open it in 2008... BUT.... if once in 2008 I switch to a Layout (Paper Space) and do a REA (Regen All) it hangs.

Did you try a purge or -purge and an audit?

Yeah no luck. BUT it may be a video card issue. I can open it on another machine fine.
