Hi,
Can anyone give some insight about the layers inside of a Schematic Symbol?
- I created Schematic Symbols that have layers inside of them. Everything looks nice when I create the blocks. I create the style object, use that in a drawing, and the colors look okay. The linetypes don't seem to show up in the symbol! I messed about with annotation scale, ltscale etc to known working permutations, but am left perturbed.
- Also, I copy the schematic symbol into another dwg and all the layers from the drawing come in (can't remember this being typical behavior when inserting a block that shouldn't have all the drawing's layers associated with it). I explode the symbol and the layers are destroyed.
This is expected behavior? Any word on what 2009 will do differently in this regard? I'd love to have different linetypes in the symbol, but if this is expected behavior that cannot be avoided, then this remains not possible. Someone has to know. Autodesk?
I would like to know so I can proceed with alternate options (e.g. dynamic blocks, which also do not seem to embed properly in these Schematic Symbols). This seems to be basic functionality, not wish list fluff, yes?
I appreciate it.
Paul
