    Question Standard templates

I am Tuturing ACA2008 at SIT in Invercargill New Zealand.

I decided this year to use the standard settings taht came with ACE in regards to the project navigator templates.

I am using the construct template - Aec Model (MetricCTB).dwt file to creat my constructs.

i have set up a project with 2 levels.

1 starting at 0 and the next at 2.42m

I am having problems with the display between levels of the constructs.

I created a construct for the floor model and then a constrcut for the roof model. the house house brick veneer and timber framed walls.

but when I bring drag the floor model into my roof construct which is on a different level it shows the display of the walls differently.

    What would be cause this

    Any help would be appriciated

    cheers
    phil

It could be a number of things. The first one that comes to mind is the cut plane. Since you are dragging it to the roof level, the cut plan will be above the walls. Change the cut plane @ the bottom right corner of the task bar to ................well.................. my mind only works in imperial!!!! Just imagine that if the walls are only 2 meters high, then the cut plane needs to be below that. See if that helps.

You could also drag the roof into the floor construct. That way the cut plane would be correct, and you should still see the outline, ridges, and valleys of the roof.

Yeah i had a small play with that but it did not seem to changed the display of the floor plan. I thought it might be something to do with the cut plane. It is strange as I use my own template for work an it is as good as gold but it is not built up from the latest release of ACA it is built from an old one.

    Cheers

You should definately recreate your templates starting with an ACA template. There's a whole bunch of stuff written into the ACA tempates that are OOTB. Display configs, anno scales, etc. The old templates just don't usually work as well. I know you said your's works, but I'd still create a new one so that all the display configs, etc. are there.
