    Default Students bringing in homework

Will we have any problems if student interns bring in projects which they started in the Student Edition of Max or Viz 2008 and open the files on our regular machines. I offered some of our interns to take advantage of our network rendering for a competition and then remembered once hearing about problems with Acad getting water marked just by opening up files created in the student edition. Does Max have any similar issues I should be aware of before they open their files?

I don't know about the MAX student version, but any other student version from Autodesk that I have worked with did have issues. Anything done in a student version and was placed (a block, or a line for that matter) into a drawing that was worked on by a "normal" version included the alert "student version". i could not find a way to get rid of it.

The student could save a copy of any blocks & such that he needs to a jump drive & work off that, so as to keep the working drawings clean.
Give people a job worth doing, the tools to do it, recognition of a job well done & get out of the way.

What I hear you saying is that it doesn't affect the machine, it affects the files. So if they bring in their own file, work on it, and take it back again, and we never use the file, we're OK?

Yes. It only affects the files, not the machine. I would be very careful though. Make sure that none of the student version data gets into your working files. You can't get it out.
