Cool excel coordinate based block insertion

I'm trying to find a way to insert blocks at the x and y coordinates listed in an excel file. Idealy, the two would be linked so that a change in the excel file would enact a change in the insertion point of the block in CAD as well.

    Thanks

If you are using a version of Map3D with FDO (Data Connect) you can do this with an ODBC connection and use your blocks as the symbol.

In order for the location to update you need to reconnect the ODBC connection and if the dwg is open you need to disconnect (temporary) to edit the excel sheet.

in map 3D 2006 I could create and import .csv points from excel. In map 3D 2009 this is no longer available. I have a large amount of data in .csv format that i need to import into existing maps. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,pj

Did you follow the link I posted in reply to the original question? That's one way of doing it, another is by using the Survey Extension available in 2009 to subscription members.
