Default How do I create a base drawing without locking it once i query from it.

I've created a base drawing of all the datasets we use regularly and we then query from it. Once I query from it, it locks the file. I was to update it and add some new datasets but I can't open it. I always detach the drawing after doing a query and getting whatever data I want. Is this normal?

Once you attach a dwg to another dwg it does lock that attached dwg from being open until you do detach it from the dwg you queried it into. However you can attach the dwg to another dwg and query from it again. That's the muliple users part of it. However writing changes or edits back to the attached dwg is controlled by the save back settings.
