OBJECTS MISSING IN MODEL/ PAPER SPACE

here is my problem, there is seeming to be a growing problem in our office with 2008. on some of our larger projects, objects like xrefs, and title blocks begin to not show in their respective model/ paper space views. if you regen, more objects begin to disappear. until finally autocad crashes. i have tried a lisp routine called delete empty entity, and audit. these seemed to help as of last friday, but today the are starting to do this again and audit nor D.E.E. seem to be having an effect. any help on this topic would be much appreciated.

One thing is to make sure that the objects are close to 0,0,0. I can't remember why that is, but when they are far away, it has an effect on CAD's performance.

the xref is based off of 0,0. if you select all, you can see all the grips, just the walls and notes dont show. and thus cannot work on the drawings.

OK, i have tried CDG Purge 4.0, DELETE EMPTY ENTITY, PURGE, and AUDIT. none have fixed the problem. my title block is xref'd into my plot sheets, my floor plan is xref'd into my plot sheets as well. i have run all of these possible fixes on all of my drawings and the problem persists. at this point, i have absolutely no idea where to go next with this.

when i open a drawing, the blocks, notes, dimensions, everything but the xref is typically missing from model space/ viewport. if i run an audit, close the drawing then reopen it, it usually works for that span of time that the drawing is open. after that if i save, close and reopen the drawing(s) the problem starts again. sometimes if i toggle back and forth between model and paper space, then end in paper space, enter a viewport, then select the xref (floor plan) then toggle back to model space, everything seems to work fine. the major problem is going to be when i have to publish this job, not everything plots. title block, xref, notes, various things become missing and thus are missing from any plots.

• Have you made sure to promote all objects to the current format?
• Have you run -PURGE -> RegApps ?
• Also, in your running the routines you mentioned, did you make sure to start at the bottom of the xref stack? If you run it on a sheet file, it won't get into the attached files. The next time you open the file, if an error exists in an attached file it just gets sucked back in.
• Have you checked for circular xrefs?

Just some stabs in the dark to get you started.

Another wild stab in the dark, have you used comma's or special characters in the drawing name or path? I have seen this cause some very weird problems in the past!!

We are having the same issue in our office. Only the 2008 users are affected.

Open "sheet" files, viewports missing, xrefs missing.....actually had one of the paperspace xrefs slip through the viewport into model space. Little speck of a titleblock if you will.
