    Default Topo surface - Again

    Hi,
I know this have been discussed before but I still need some clarification re. the Topsurface and Graded Region.

I have created a surface from a dwg file and it is in the existing Phase. I then create a new Toposurface which is in phase New Construction.
I click Grade Region ("Copy internal Points" is checked) and select the new topo that I want to use as a Graded Region but nothing happens -> I don't get a copy of the existing Surface in the new Phase. What am I missing here?

Also, how come that even if I create a surface that doesn't cut the existing surface it still gives me a cut and fill?

    Thanks

    Jonas

The Graded Region tool advises you to place the toposurface in an earlier phase. Do so, then switch to a view that is assigned to a future phase. Then you can use the Graded Region tool. Revit demolishes the existing surface and creates a copy in the current phase.

    Thanks Steve,
I have my existing surface in the existing phase and then new surface that I want to grade to in a new phase.
I select Grade Region (in a view that is New Construction phase) select the surface. It creates a new copy of the existing surface but the copy doesn't incorporate the Graded Region -> The surface still looks the same. If I merge my Graded Region with the newly created Surface it is sort of OK but I envisage that is not how it is suppose to work.

    Thanks

You have to edit the "new" surface to create the changed surface. Then you need to alter the view's phase filter to Show Previous and New so that the demolished surface doesn't compete with the new one.
