Can an excel sheet inserted as a 3rd party in an IDW linked with an excel sheet of an IPT?
I'm a little confused by your question, but I think this is what you are saying... feel free to correct me...
You have a part that is excel driven.
You have an IDW of the part.
You want the excel spreadsheet on the IDW
If I got that correctly, then it's fairly simple. When in "Drawing Annotation" mode, simply click the table button and then instead of inserting a custom one, use the open dialog box (looks like a tiny folder with a magnifying glass) to browse and insert the table you are looking for.
Another way to do this is to insert an object. To do this, select Insert>Object, select create from file, browse to the excel file you want and double click on it. Before you click OK, Make sure you click on the "Link" option. This will insert the Excel file into the .idw, and any changes that are made to it will be updated automatically.
Thanks all for the replys. What I had done is something similar to the answers suggested. But the thing is I have to link this excel sheet in the 3d model to the excel sheet inserted in 2d drawing. As the name of the excel file in 3d model is 'Worksheet in DAB14032008.ipt' excel is not able to solve the link. Is there any way to locate the excel sheet in 3d Model environment.
You can open the spreadsheet in the inventor environment and save copy as. This will bring the spreadsheet out of inventor so you can link it to your other inventor files. To make this new spreadsheet the only one used, you should right click on the 3rd party spreadsheet in inventor and change source to the new spreadsheet, or reinsert it and use the link command again.
