i was hoping to be able to create some placemarks in Google Earth and use the lat/long manually to create the cogo points in civil 3d. i did discover by creating a generic point in c3d, selecting it, going to properties and cut & paste the lat/long from google earth to the properties palette and voila!k then you align the google image to the points in civil 3d and have a fairly accurate image location.
your idea sounds good too, what would the point file look like?
Import Points dialog, click the 'Manage Formats' button, in the Point File Formats dialog, click the 'New' button... In the Point File Format dialog, add either DECDEG or DASHED lat/long, etc.
