    Thanks
Why in AA-2008 the default (Drawing1) does not go away after opening another drawing.?
Drawing1 opens as the default and when selecting another drawing to open in ADT-05 the
Default drawing would delete and you would just have the one you opened to work on.
With it staying open it just gives you another drawing to have to switch thru if you are working on several drawings at a time.? How can I turn this off.? It worked back in ADT-05.?

That depends upon the value of SDI (stands for Single Document Interface). When in SDI, the current doc gets replaced.

No, it only replaces a dwg when SDI is 1. That's the way its always been.

Drawing1 will go away if AutoCAD determines that no changes have been made to it. Do you have any customizations running on startup (particularly any that you were not using in 2005) that could be making AutoCAD view Drawing1 as having been modified.

Curiously, in 2004, I run a script file on Drawing1 when it first opens, partly with the intent of making certain that it is viewed as changed. That way it stays open - and I want it that way to avoid accidentally closing the program in a zero doc state and having my pallete locations/sizes getting toasted. Perhaps that all has been changed in later releases (2009 allows use of Project Browser in a zero doc state!), but I still like having Drawing1 open, for use as a scratch file for experiments, etc. But that is just me - I can certainly understand your desire to not have it open.

If you acces the software by double clicking the file, you will not get a Drawing1, you only get the Drawing1 when you open the software first, then open a file.
