    Default Overhead Coverage System

Ok, it isn't all that amazing but I DO work in a Structural Engineering firm so "pretty pictures" aren't all the rage. But anyways, this a simple model of an Overhead Coverage System built over an existing structure to withstand incoming mortar and/or rocket fire. We've designed these to cover dining facilities, chapels, gymnasiums, and MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) facilities all over Iraq. And not only am I the draftsman, but I'm also on the survey team so I get to these projects through from Survey to as-built.

Looks good, as far as pretty pictures go, as long as it conveys the information you want to put across then it serves it's purpose.

What program did you use to create it?

I expect site visits are somewhat interesting.

That's 100% vanilla AutoCAD. And, yes, site visits are a blast. But trying to talk your way on to a Blackhawk Helicopter with a full survey loadout (instrument, tripods, poles, utility locator, etc, etc,) plus your personal gear is a challenge.

definition of "pretty picture" in my opinion is depending from the angle and side of viewer, the function of the picture, and not only from the quality of the picture itself. As long as the picture is useful for the viewer, so I think it ispretty enough. And yours are very interesting.

And you're now classified as a veteran?

I was already a veteran (7 years US Army, Operation Desert Storm), but now I'm just another civilian contractor. But I have seen more "action" in Iraq than I ever did in Kuwait back in '92.
