Quickest way to unjoin beam and column and attach column bottom of beam.

Whats the quickest way to get from before.jpg to after.jpg (and no not double clicking on the imagine in this post, wiseguy! In Revit.)

I'd like to change the way the column and a beam intersect.

Rather then the beam intersecting with the side of the column I'd like the column to be under the beam. When I try to attach the top of the column to the bottom of the beam it says I must unjoin them first.

The way I've been dealing with this is to go into the column properties and setting the height to some odd ball height below the beam then using attach, top and selecing the beam.

There must be a better/quicker way. Thoughts?

Select the beam, move the blue dots away from the beam, align the edge of the beam with the edge of the column, select the column and use Attach to attach the top of the column to the beam.
