Default Clipped object and elevation front plane

Is there a way to control how families are viewed when they intersect a clipping plane?

We have an octagonal space (inscribed inside a circle) with a dome ceiling/roof. Our elevation tags are placed at the center of the space and pointed in the correct directions. Hanging from the center of the dome is a ceiling based family of a chandelier (not yet a light family). The problem is the front clip plane of our elevations intersect the circular chandelier and cut it in the view.

The result graphically is not what we would like to see (for example the chains carrying the chandlier are being cut at different heights based on the geometry of the family. We would like the elevation to show those chains carrying all the way down to the fixture geometry. But, the loaction of the elevation tags relative to the other room geometry are where we want them. I know that a jogged section would solve the problem, it's just that we are used to keeping track of the views in our CDs as elevations. So I was hoping there was something we could do to the family.

I think this is similar to how certain objects view in plan when they are insecting cut planes, or are just in part of the view range, but I am not certain.

Not sure I totally understand what you're trying to do...but you can change the family type to something other than one that will show as cut. Generic and casework families (and maybe one other that I don't remember) will be shown as cut when inserted into a project and cut by the section.
Any other family type will not be cut and will show the family as if in elevation.
Is that what you're trying to do?

Yeah, change it to a lighting fixture family category and it will work as you want.

T1shep- yes, that is what I am trying to accomplish.
Andre- thanks, I will try changing the family category and see if that works out.
