    Default Dimension text & arrowheads appear hollow

    In AutoCAD 2006 the dimension text and arrowheads appear hollow (no fill) when you hide the viewport or plot using hide. This is a 3d surface model dimensioned in model space. When the viewport is plotted in hide mode the fill of the text font is missing as well as the arrowhead fill and other blocks with polylines also appear hollow. I've tried setting the viewports shadeplot setting as well as textfill with no success. Any other ideas?

    Fillmode=1 maybe?
    or Shademode=2dwireframe (I don't if shademode is available in 2006)

    I've just lost the fill in the arrowheads of my model space leaders too, and none of the suggestions fix it. (other than changing the plotstyle of the window so it's not hidden, which defeats the purpose)

    The paperspace leaders fill normally.

    Is your view a true plan view, not oblique?
    Type PLAN.

    Yes, at least it was before setting a zoom/annotation scale. Apparently my landing on that dim is behind something too even though there are no objects covering it.....maybe an unused part of an annotation somewhere else?/!

    Not really a problem atm since that job is finished, but might need investigation later if it happens again.

    I see this behavior whenever a drawing is out of plane with the ucs. It usually happens to me after I hold the Shift key and middle button to 3D orbit. Resetting your ucs to world or using "plan" as jaberwok suggested should fix it.

    Nope, they're still hollow with wcs when the viewport is set to plot hidden. If I set it to wireframe, I get the fill back.

    Isn't 2D wireframe the setting it's supposed to be on when drawing in 2D? That's my default.

    Thats what happens when you "hide" a dimension or text object. You are pretty much SOL doing that all in model space - you either get the dimensions right or hidden solids, not both. Put the dimensions and text in paper space and set the viewport so it plots hidden and you get the best of both.
