Max and Max Design are the same program with some small differences. Max comes with the SDK (Software developer Kit) so that users can build their own scripts. Max Design comes with Expousre, a set of lighting analysis tools.

Max is for animators in the film and gaming industry, while Max Design is for architects and designers.
