Hi all, I'm trying something out and it seems Revit doesn't like it, so I'm trying to confirm if others can reproduce this or have encountered this in the past.

Basically I created a simple mullion profile family and nested a shared detail component family. The reason for sharing the family is so I can select families from within the project for each profile family instead of editing each profile family individually and loading detail components in them. I just need to add one family per profile to act as a placeholder by adding a parameter of type "Family" and then I'd be able to select other detail component families loaded in the project.

The detail components are details of the surrounding walls and not the mullion itself, so you need to be able to change between different detail components based on what wall your curtainwall is inserted in (this will clarify the question you probably already have, which is "why are you changing the detail component for the mullion profile?" ). Basically I'm trying to make heads and sills look more "finished" when a wall section is cut instead of having to detail it manually. This will help large projects progress faster and make users see the value of modeling accurately and not feel compelled to bail to 2D methods of drawing up wall sections.

With the above method, the detail component does not show when the mullion is cut, but if the detail component is not made as shared, then it shows up correctly. Can you reproduce this or seen this in the past? Thanks!
