    Default trim 3D objects

in autocad arch 2006 there was a tool called trim by plane that was real handy in trimming 3D objects. i'm using autocad 2008 and cannot locate this tool.
i've used slice to try and trim but somehow the 3D box object loses it's box properties and the the grips that were present prior to using slice are missing so i can't further manipulate the object except for maybe stretch.
basically, i'm trying to cut the eaves and birdsmouth to form a rafter.
    thanks in advance.

I believe you have solid history turned on. Turn it off with the SOLIDHIST variable. To turn it off for existing solids do it in the properties panel. You should be able to slice with reckless abandon, without losing grips or push-pull functions.

i set solidhist to 0 but still have the same problem.
when i subtract the 2-3D solids the resulting object does not behave like the original primitive in the fact that the gips are gone. one grip though, does appear off of the object in near by space.
do you know of a way to trim studs, birdsmouths and eaves from a rotated 3D rafter used as a gable end?
there was a nice command under boolean called trim by section/plane i believe, i used in ADT 2006 which i can't find in ACAD 2008. is there something similar?
    thanks

Hold the "Ctrl" key and select the individual face, you will be able to use the grip edit
