When you import dwgs revit has a file that controls what the change into you can modify that to have the autocad txt look like your text.

Yes, you are correct. When importing a dwg file into Revit, you can
always map the .shx fonts used in an AutoCad drawing to a TrueType font
in Revit. You simply need to go to find the "shxfontmap.txt" file under
C:\Program Files\Autodesk Revit 5.1\Data folder and to modify it.

For some time, my company has used SIMPLEX.SHX as the default font for AutoCAD drawings. Trying to carry this through to Revit is causing my no end of headaches! Simplex just doesn't seem to want and play ball when is comes to assigning lines weights. Suggestions on a postcard please. I know the simplest answer would be change the font, but you know how it is with company standards and changing them.
    Hope theres an easy answer.
    Thanks

Select the Simplex font's element properties > edit > lineweight parameter.

    Adjust that to desired weight.

View it at different scales on prints to see if its what you want, keeping in mind that the lineweights plot to different pen thicknesses at different scales ( this can be adjusted also, using Settings > lineweights dialogue. )

I think that should do the trick. If not, you may need to make some copies of the text type, setting the parameters for each one and giving it a unique name ie Simplex 100 bold or Simplex 500 light.

    Good Tip.

I checked out the shxfontmap.txt file and was a little confused. Most of the AutoCAD SHX fonts were mapped to a Revit font called: Revit_HEB_SHX.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what this font is or were it resides? I thought that Revit_HEB_SHX was perhaps some sort of internal code to map an AutoCAD SHX font to what ever the default Revit font was. Also not all of the possible Autocad SHX fonts are listed. Is there a default translation setting for SHX fonts that Revit encounters that are not on the list?

    Two quick things:

    1. Most of the AutoCAD-only .SHX fonts have a same-named truetype counterpart that installs along with AutoCAD for export & compability. I don't think that these are available with the Revit install. Anyways, if you do a complete AutoCAD install, then look in the WINNT\FONTS folder, you'll see tur type fonts for all the base .SHX fonts. Seems like you could monkey with the import/export control text file to use these fonts if the one's Revit is turning to by default don't meet your fancy. I know that these TrueType fonts that come with AutoCAD look dead-on to the SHX fonts, so it would just be a matter then of fixing your lineweight settings (which might be the only thing you've got to do, from reading the posts).

    2. You can make your own truetype fonts. Even out of SHX fonts. It takes a tool for the job, like MacroMedia's Fontographer ($300 or so) but it's possible. If you've just got to keep office standards, and use a custom SHX font, it's one option for you to look at. We looked at going the other way; using the office standard truetype font in AutoCAD via a custom SHX font (since we use it in everything BUT AutoCAD, Revit included), but the SHX font still had too many lines in it, and wasn't too much faster than using a truetype font in AutoCAD, which as you know is a major pain.

Could someone post their shxfontmap.txt file so I can see an example.
I've been trying to do this with no success.
I'm trying to map hand.shx [tab] myttf

I also have been trying to do this with no luck. Do you use the font name (i.e. RomanS) or the font FILE name (i.e. romans__.ttf)? If the file name, do you need the extension? Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks
