    Post Backing up Dwg's

    We have become a bit slack recently with backing up our drawings and ended up losing a few when we had a computer problem.

    Therefore, we are thinking about investing in some backup software.

    Does anyone have any recommendations as to what to look at?

    Thanks in advance

    I would suggest that you look at CD-ROM based solutions.

    We were hoping to find a solution that didnt rely on us remembering to do the backup

    We have a small network (5 pc's) and what to backup files on one mahine to a drive on another machine.

    Sort of like 'my briefcase' in windows, but automated

    I have a CD-ROM based solution that came with my
    burner, it alows you to set the drives and files you want
    backed up and when do to it. I'm pretty sure that they all
    work this way, for a 'big' name version look at products
    offered by Veritas, they do tape and CD based back-up
    applications

    5 machines .... hmmm

    Sounds like a "BATCH" (BAT) might work here.

    Open NOTEPAD and copy&paste this....

    copy c:\my-folder\*.dwg z:\backup

    Now save it as ...... CAD-BAK.BAT ......... in c:\my-folder

    Now go to START> SETTINGS> CONTROL PANEL>SCHEDULED TASKS
    Point to the file and have it run as YOU see fit.

    (Obviously, edit the folder names & drive letters for your use)

    Hope that helps.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The same batch file needs to be copied on each machine and "scheduled" accordingly.
    Hi Chris
    Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD General Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.
    Thanks, Mike
