Spaces not bounding

For some reason, in a new project we started up in 2009, the spaces are not being vertically bound by ceilings. The linked model is room bounding, however if I set the upper limit to 3000' or something, it will go to 3000'.

Isn't it supposed to be caught by the ceiling and hug whatever "bounds" it vertically?

Matt,
It most certainly should be behaving that way. Since the Linked Model is already set to be Room Bounding, I'm not sure what's going on. Perhaps the Ceiling Elements themselves are not set to be Room Bounding in the Architectural Model?

Randomly found out how to fix this....


If you do not have "Calculate Areas and Volumes" set in your settings, it will not bound the room by the ceiling.

I do not know if this is intentional or not, but that seems to be what happens.

This is exactly how it is designed to work. With that setting turned off, we only manage the areas that you see in a plan view. This can have a significant performance improvement to a large project, but we will not be maintaining what elements are located in what volumes, and the analytical calculations that go along with that location.
