    Default Pipe-Rise/Drop annotation issue

I can't figure out why the Pipe Rise vs. Pipe Drop doesn't work properly. Sometimes the rise uses the proper annotation (from mechanical settings) and sometimes is uses the drop symbol... the same with the drop...often it is the drop, but sometimes it is the rise symbol...doesn't make full sense, and I suppose it is related to the view range of each view.

Do people have issues with it, and if not, can you explain how to get it to look properly?

In the meantime, I will look at the help file.

    Thanks,

    Are you penetrating a level/floor/ceiling?

Are you using the standard elbows?

What are your view range settings?

The top view range determines how the pipe symbol is shown. If the pipe vertical elevation is shown below the Top Primary Range you will get the "drop" symbol. If above you will get the "up" symbol.

These are some notes I wrote a few months ago when I first tackled this exact problem.

Rises and drops are shown relative to the top view
if the segment starts and ends below the top of the view = drop
if the segment penetrates through the top of the view = rise
a vertical segment on its own below the top of the view = rise
pipes with fittings under the top of the view = drop

I am having a different problem. When i draw a pipe riser from below the first floor to above the second, then I click the pipe and create similar to draw a tee from the mid point to create a take-off. I get the following:

My mechanical settings are set to the following:

If I change the drop setting to Outline, it will give me what I want (shown below), But this should not be treating a Tee Up / Down symbol as a combination of a Rise and Drop symbol shown on top of each other.

Anyone else having this problem shown above? The visualization of the pipe rise/drop symbol does not behave as expected...

I am having the same problem. My sanitary vents, just open pipes coming through the roof, are showing as drops. I even tried plan regions with no success.

Plan regions don't work in MEP.
Is the top of your vent pipe above the top view range?
Is your vent connected to a system (meaning, is it associated with a connector)?
Workaround: You can place a "generic" (not a generic category but something like an vent top piece) family on the top of your vent with a connector and it will show as a rise.
